Blog Help Needed

We are looking for someone to help up make our blog appear better. We are looking for a few specific things. It doesn't have to be specifically created for us. We would just like to know how to go about creating or obtaining these items.

1) A blog button - we would like some sort of button that represents sports and stilettos. Perhaps a stiletto style shoe with various balls (football, baseball, etc.) around it.

2) Blog tabs - several blogs we have visited have tabs at the top that include subcategories such as home, about us and various tags to specific parts of the blog. In this case we'd like to know how to create these so we could send readers to the blog hop parts of our blog, the sports posts and other items.

3) A stylish background - right now we're using this green with symbols in the background. We'd like something to better represent sports and stilettos. I don't know if there is one already out there or if it would need to be created.

Any help you could give us would be appreciated. You can e-mail us at angie.aaron3@gmail.com or leave a comment below. Thank you!

Holiday Makeup

So this year I have been torn about how I want to do my makeup for the holidays and the commitments that I have. I am tired of doing the same thing all the time so I went on a search for the trends of the year. I thought I would share some of my findings with you. Two things that I know for sure is primer is a must and don't use glitter and shimmer all over your face! Just pick one area, Please!

Eyes: metalics, big eyeliner, glitter tipped lashes, smokey eyes

Face: nude, dewy glow

Lips: bold lipstick, highshine lipglosses

Show me your holiday looks, I would love to see them.

Monday Is Burning

Hi all. Aaron here.

I'm going to try a little something new for Monday posts. Last week I wrote about the Sunday football games on Monday, but that totally left out the Monday night game. So this week look for a football games analysis entry on Tuesday.

So in place of football analysis, each Monday I'm going to post five burning sports questions for the week. So, without further ado, I give you the burn notice.

1) What is up with the AFC North division in the NFL? You never know which team is going to show up. Baltimore got smacked around by a less than excellent San Diego Chargers team, at the moment Pittsburgh is being beat 20-3 with little time left in the game, Cincinnati wins but only when they don't play division opponents, and the Browns, well, they're the Browns. This is problematic, but makes for an interesting week to see if the power teams are going to play like they should or fizzle.

2) Does anyone care about the NBA? Ang and I have said the worst present we will get this year for Christmas is the NBA resuming. I was really looking forward to no NBA this year. Apparently ESPN still thinks its important as every other commercial seems to be about the Christmas Day match-ups. WE GET IT, but I still don't care.

3) Is it me or does it seem like the MLB hot stove isn't that hot this year? Usually this is the time of year when baseball teams are wheeling and dealing and with big name free agents on the market, I was expecting a little bit more of a splash or crazy deal to go down. Sure, the Marlins started early and the Angels got two of the top free agents, but other than that it's been pretty quiet to me.

4) Let's talk hockey? No, really, let's not. I don't understand that with the absence of the NBA, the NFL season basically rolling into the playoffs and MLB being in the off season, where is the hockey coverage? The NHL is hurting itself right now as they are not heavily advertising at a weak sports time of year and the sports networks don't help either by neglecting the hardest-hitting exciting sport there is aside from football. For the love of God, I'd like to see just a bit more hockey. After all, it is winter and hockey is a winter sport.

5) Do we really need 35 bowl games? It's bowling season for NCAA football, but anymore it doesn't seem like playing after the season ends is anything special. From December 17 to January 9, there are 35 college post-season games to be played. Multiply 35 by two teams per game, that's 70 teams. Yes, 70 teams out of the 120 are playing in the post-season. More than half get to keep playing. At that rate, what significance do bowls hold (besides the all-mighty dollar)? Why not just add another game on to the season for everyone and let the cream of the crop get to play for a championship.

FINAL BURN: So this week I could have done a little more research as the questions aren't necessarily lighting the world on fire. But at any rate, let me know if you agree or disagree with my analysis of the five questions. If you raise a good point, you just might see your comment in next Monday's edition.

Good News For Football Fans

Good news football fans!

Today the NFL redid it's television deal through the 2022 season. What this means is games will continue to be broadcast on "free television" - network stations like CBS, Fox and NBC - for the next 11 years.

I don't know about you, but if I had to pay to watch Saturday (that's right, we're at that point of the season where some games are now on Saturdays) and Sunday NFL games a la NFL Network Thursday games, I think my viewership of NFL would definitely decline. NFL is truly "America's Game" pulling in the largest ratings in 23 of the 25 top programming in the fall. Pulling the games from "free" or network television would not only pull the rug out from its fans, but ruin the network ratings for fall and early winter.

Now, while the networks will continue to broadcast Saturdays and Sundays, ESPN will have Monday Night Football through at least 2021 and the NFL Network will be expanding its Thursday coverage starting next year. Currently the NFL Network only broadcasts eight games in the second half of the season.

For the full report on the television contracts, you can read a story on ESPN.com here.

Boyfriend Questions

So Ang wants me to answer a list of questions concerning our relationship. We've seen these in video form, but we decided to do it in text. These are always fun so here goes:

-Where did we meet?
Well, the first time we met was actually on a dating Web site - Plenty of Fish. I was messing around on there at the suggestion of the person who cuts my hair and saw this beautiful local girl that looked like a lot of fun. I messaged her, was lucky enough to get a response and by the end of the conversation we set up a date to meet.

-What was our first date?
Our first date... Wow, where to be begin. It was about an 11-hour affair. We met at my favorite coffee place in Camp Hill, talked, went to City Island, drove around the area, had dinner, ended up at Barnes and Noble, Pier 1 and a car dealership. I'm sure there's more detail for the date, but that was it. Eleven hours later we had decided to see each other again and I believe we met up again the next day.

-Where was our first kiss? How was it?
Our first kiss I remember vividly. We were sitting on the concrete City Island "beach" (don't get in the water, you're likely to catch something) on our first date. I leaned had my arm around her, leaned over and kissed her. As to how it was, who kisses and tells? LOL But to be honest, we're still together today and I remember enjoying it.

-Did you think they were the one?
On the first date? I don't know. I knew I enjoyed spending time with her and was able to convince her to come to a wedding with me a week later. And we're still together seven months later, so that counts for something, doesn't it?

-What was your first impression of me?
This is a funny question. Because I met her online, I was waiting for her to be 900 pounds and look nothing like her pictures. However, I was wrong and she was much better looking in person and so personable. I remember us saying how scary it was because of the similarities in our personalities.

-When did you meet the family?
Hmmm... I know it wasn't long after we started dating. It was before I took her to the wedding so her family would know I wasn't some creeper. I remember it being a little intimidating at first, but it all worked out. Just recently I met some extended family (the grandparents).

-Do you have a tradition?
Hmmm... I can think of a few little dumb traditions we have weekly on our trip to KClingers for trivia night. We always talk about how our friend worked at the Utz factory and ask if she wants any meat from the Meat Locker in Hanover. The only other tradition I can think of is when we part for the night whoever has to drive home says they will text when they get home so we know each other are safe.

-First road trip?
Major road trip or first time we traveled to somewhere to stay the night? The first time we stayed together was at the wedding about a week and a half after we met. After that, we had weekend visits at friends' houses, another wedding in Erie, a two-day trip to New York City and a three-day to New York State.

-Who said I love you first?
This was a tricky one. I remember a conversation about us saying we were falling for each other, but didn't want to get too attached if we didn't feel the same way about each other. The potential was always there, but I think I may have said it first.

-What do you argue about the most?
Me. I can be very stupid sometimes, lack common sense, have little motivation, have a big mouth and will drag my feet and be lazy when I shouldn't be. I'm the most common thing we fight about, but we also good communication so they don't usually last too long.

-Do you hate any of their exs?
I don't really know any of her exes, but from some of the things she tells me, I know she deserves and deserved better from the way she was once treated.

-Who wears the pants in the relationship?
I've only seen Ang wear a dress or skirt three or four times, so we both wear a lot of pants. ;-)

-What size shoe does she wear?
If I get this wrong, I might get crucified since one of her obsessions is shoes. To be on the safe side, I'd say depending on the make and fit, anywhere between an eight and nine.

-What is her favorite type of sandwich?
She doesn't eat too many sandwiches that I'm aware of, but I would say she likes the turkey wrap sandwiches from Arbys, double cheeseburgers from McDonalds and I can't remember the name of the sandwhich, but it's ham and pineapple on rye (?) at Isaacs. No avocados on the sandwiches though.

-What would she eat every day if she could?
Depends... Eat without getting sick or eat in general? Seafood makes her sick, but I know she would love to have crab, lobster, etc. if she could. Other than that, I don't know if there is one food she is super crazy about other than french fries from KClingers. I know she also loves a good doughnut.

-What is her favorite cereal?
Never having seen her eat cereal and not remembering too much of what she does eat, I don't know. I want to say Lucky Charms, but it's a stab in the dark.

-What is her favorite sports team?
The New Orleans Saints. Ok, ok, ok, ok...

-Whats her eye color?
A regular boyfriend would say blue. I would say the kind of blue that makes you get lost in the beauty of them. She knows how to bring them out with what she wears and the eyeshadow (makeup freak) she highlights them with.

-Who is her best friend?
Sometimes it's me, others it's not. People that come to mind are Brian, Alex, Nate, Lori and Missy. She's my best friend.

-What is something you do that she wishes you didn’t?
Take your pick.. Sleep a lot, drink, procrastinate, open my stupid mouth, arrive late, have a part-time job (she and I want me to be full-time somewhere), allow my friends and family to influence my decisions and do the anchorman yawn/scream.

-What does she collect?
Neat odd fact, she collects coins. Specifically rare coins, all the state coins and pennies you turn into designs at tourist attractions. She also has a vast collection of shoes and makeup.

-What could she spend hours doing?
Besides taking a bath? LOL She loves to read and at the moment loves Hallmark movies. Recently she also said she's been on several YouTube journeys starting at one spot and hours later still be on YouTube 50,000 topics away from what she started at.

-What unique talent does she have?
Hmmm... I should know this, but honestly I don't. She's one of the best multi-taskers I know and toughest girls who rarely complains (if she does, you know something is wrong). And not to sound egotistical, a talent she has is being in love with me. I know I'm far from perfect, but she loves me for who I am and makes me more comfortable that anyone ever has. I love you baby. Muah!

"Meet Me On Monday"

Questions:

1. Tomorrow I'm going to _________?- go to the grocery store, oh so much fun lol
2. Pudding or Jello?- vanilla pudding
3. What book are you currently reading? - not reading anything at the moment, I need to download some books off amazon
4. What is the first concert you went to see?- I honestly do not remember what my first concert was
5. What is your current weather?- its cold in the 20's

NFL Week 14 Comments

Browns/Steelers - The Steelers struggled in this game against the Browns. Really? Really?

Colts/Ravens - The Ravens continue their quest to win the division. They hold the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh and have one more game each with the Bengals and Browns. The Colts inch closer to quarterback controversy - Peyton in '12 vs. probable draft pick Andrew Luck.

Falcons/Panthers - The Falcons stay alive in a wild card race after the Saints clinched a playoff birth, but it was a comeback win. Panther problem - Cam Newton threw the ball nearly 40 times!

Texans/Bengals - The Texans continue their march with a last-minute victory over the Bengals. Bengal playoff hopes take a hit.

Vikings/Lions - The Lions prove they can win without DT Ndamukong Suh (knucklehead) and keep their playoff hopes alive with a win over the division foe Vikings. My question is what was Minnesota doing pulling their quarterback of the future Christian Ponder?

Buccaneers/Jaguars - The Bucs had a 14-point lead but couldn't hold on to the ball as they had seven turnovers. No wonder Maurice Jones-Drew set the Jaguars team record for scoring four touchdowns in a game.

Eagles/Dophins - Did anyone care about this game? The Eagles exploded for 24 points in the second quarter, but their second half scoring was only two points. It's sad that the Eagles still have a slim chance to make the playoffs.

Chiefs/Jets - The Jets hold on to a Wild Card spot in the playoffs for now and play no killer teams in the three remaining weeks. Running seems to be the key for the Jets as Sanchez didn't have to do too much throwing the ball just 21 times.

Saints/Titans - It wasn't a pretty win for the Saints, but a win is a win and this win helped them clinch a playoff birth. The Titans loss helped the Texans claim the division title and leaves them on the outside looking in just short of a Wild Card spot.

Patriots/Redskins - Was the result of this game a surprise? Brady puts up monster stats. The Patriots are close to winning the division. Another ho-hum game.

49ers/Cardinals - What happened here? The 49ers drop a game and now are tied for the second seed in the NFC with the Saints. Things have to get hard next week before closing easily for the Niners with a game against the Steelers this week.

Bears/Broncos Tebows - The Bears should be ashamed of themselves and failed to stop Tebowmania. Winning 10-0 in the fourth quarter, the Bears choke and let the world go crazy over Tebow for another week. Ilch. As it stands now, the Tebows are leading their division and the Bears are not in the playoffs hoping for Cutler to come back soon.

Raiders/Packers - 13-0. Packers continue to roll and when I caught the fourth quarter, they already had their subs in. I said before that Carson Palmer is overrated. A little stat data, four interceptions for Palmer in this game bringing his seven-game season total to 13 - one shy of the number of touchdowns he's thrown. Disgraceful.

Bills/Chargers - Good night Buffalo. After starting with promise, your season is over as you are eliminated from playoff contention. The Chargers are still in the hunt for a playoff spot at 6-7, but they'll need a lot of help to get there. How the tide has changed in the AFC Wild West.

Giants/Cowboys - Super Eli to the rescue. The Giants QB lead two touchdown drives in the final three minutes of the game to take control of the NFC East. The way the Giants and Cowboys schedules look going forth could mean the Week 17 rematch in the Meadowlands could determine the division winner.

Rams/Seahawks - Will anyone watch this game? I suppose the Seahawks are still barely in the playoff hunt, but at 5-7 they would need so many things to happen to make it. Should be a Hawks win cause the Rams are on their third-string QB, but Seattle has been less that stellar at winning home games this year with a 3-3 record at CenturyLink.

What is your opinion...

Today's news has been about the Duggars and the fact that Mrs. Duggar miscarried their 20th child.

I knew a family when I was growing up that had 26 biological children. I know several families that for religious reasons do not believe in birth control. Personally, I think if they have the means to support their family than who are we to judge them. I don't think I would have tried to have another one after their last baby had so many complications but whatever works for them. My heart goes out to them though. As someone who has had a miscarriage, I don't care if it is your first child or your 20th child, a miscarriage is still a very hard thing to go through.

So tell me what you think about this situation!

Welcome To Our Blog

Hello and welcome to Sports and Stilettos!

My name is Aaron and I guess you could call me the sports nut of the blog. Angela is my wonderful girlfriend, who is quite the shoe fanatic. We have been dating for nearly seven months when we decided to create the blog. We both reside in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area.

Though we are Sports and Stilettos, we're not just going to write about sports and shoes - that would be crazy. We hope to cover a wide variety of topics from current events to historical happenings and public information to personal tidbits about ourselves. Who knows, maybe we'd even discuss our readers if they make themselves known to us.

We hope you will become a regular and provide us with any feedback you might have. We are always looking for topics and your opinions. Agree with us, dispute us, love us or hate us - we're Sports and Stilettos and we hope you enjoy our blog.
